Help ensure we get a Traffic Light at Blackhawk and Pleasant View Road Intersection!!!!
Posted on Nov 3, 2015

The City of Middleton has already officially approved funding for 1/4 of the cost of traffic light installation in their 2016 budget (they only own 1/4 of the intersection).  We now need to reach out to the City of Madison and ask that they cooperate with the City of Middleton and reserve money for the remaining 3/4 of the cost in their 2016 budget.  This will be a "temporary fix" (hopefully only until federal funds become available in 2022 for an overhaul of Pleasant View Road from Old Sauk Road to University Avenue).

Madison Alder Paul Skidmore is sponsoring a budget amendment to do this, and we need your support to help get it passed. Please send your emails or make phone calls to the following Madison offices by Monday, November 9th:

The City of Middleton Plan Commission Meeting is also scheduled for Tuesday, November 10th, 7pm, at 7426 Hubbard Avenue, Middleton, WI. There will be discussion and MAYBE a vote to rezone the property at 8850 Blackhawk Road in order to allow for the apartments to be built.  Our hope is to DELAY that rezoning vote until we ensure Madison will fund their portion of the traffic light. Please contact Eileen Kelley at the City of Middleton via email/phone at:

Suggestions for talking points:
  • Please pass Alder Skidmore's 2016 budget amendment for a traffic signal on Blackhawk and Pleasant View Roads.
  • Please cooperate with the City of Middleton and supply the remaining 3/4 of the funds necessary to ensure a traffic signal on Blackhawk and Pleasant View Roads.
  • Please use federal funds available in 2022 to completely overhaul the Pleasant View Corridor.
  • Personal testimonials about the importance of safety at the intersection are always great to include.

There is a final budget meeting in Madison on Tuesday, November 10th at 5:30 pm where a strong showing of neighborhood support will be critical.  Please put that date on your calendars.  More to come.
